Sitting Pretty in Springfield
A Painted Adirondack Chair Fundraiser

Springfield On The Move is not sitting down...yet.
Sitting Pretty in Springfield,
painted Adirondack chairs, features 50 adirondack chairs painted and decorated by local artists.  10 of the chairs are smaller child size versions.  Artists were given free rein to create unique designs. The chairs are on display until auction day at locations throughout Springfield, many in storefronts on the Main Street.

Auction was held at the historic Hartness House.

The organization purchased "Adirondack" style chairs that were given to area artists to paint. The chairs were made locally. Each participating artist painted the chairs according to their personal taste and style. These beautiful chairs are now being displayed at local businesses.

Proceeds from this project was used for downtown projects. These projects include the park at the top of Main Street, which SOM is developing with the help of area businesses and residents. This area will have benches and a gazebo for viewing the falls. A recent project was the lighting of the falls in front of the former Fellows Gear Shaper building. Many can now enjoy the falls that are lit up. These are the type of projects that are being carried out by Springfield On The Move.

Anyone interested in this art project can contact director, Mary Helen Hawthorne, at Springfield On The Move at 802-885-1527 or by email at som@vermontel.net.
